such is this world

is there anything more characteristic of this world, and completely opposite of the world to come, than for a  right and necessary action which leads to positive outcomes to nonetheless cause side effects of destruction and grief?  the system of this world is like a pill which relieves the patient of a disease yet flaws him in another area, both refusal and acceptance of treatment causing harm.

i’m a tad too tired to describe exactly how i feel about the current situation in gaza.   i will say that i am disgusted by some of the comments made by my  peers who display utter disrespect for human life in their cruel jokes, that seem to think that combat is a soccer game and our team is winning.  our cause may be justified but the execution is causing tragedy, demanding an attitude that reflects a solemn and humble heart.  how many breaths have been permanently hushed – people whose lives held just as much value to those around them as yours, people for whom my spirit cries.  i just pray that god will protect those who we have no desire to harm yet fall in the fire intended for those who we must, that we will understand the heaviness of our unfortunately necessary actions, and that the world will understand the reality of the situation.  of course, they will not.

there are other things to talk about.  i have discovered someone with a unique characteristic which i have been searching for.  the gene does exist.  there must be more like this.  also, a wonderful friend is staying with us now, which makes me glad.
